Chatbots.org is a site for professional developers of chatbots and I would say language students too. Here you can find out about which companies are employing Chatbots and what for. For instance Lucy, is employed by O2 as a customer service assistant. Talking to lucy and some of the other chatbots is a great way of exploring the English language within a natural but restricted context.

Twitter is an excellent place to practice your English, meet people, gather information and communicate with your existing friends. According to Tech Crunch, the number of twitter users may have exceeded 30 million. Certainly, Twitter has enough users for TIME Magazine to write about it! The article can be read on TIME’s website.

One way to improve your writing and conversation skills is to have a conversation with a chatbot or even build your own! There are lots of chatbots on the web. I only know about a few. While studying at Sussex University I implemented a small chatbot while learning how to program. My chatbot was based on ELIZA, one of the first computer programs capable of having a conversation with us humans. You can talk with a simple version of ELIZA by following this link. This version was implemented by the staff of my old University. Another version can be found here.
